Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, United Kingdom, November 1, 2013 – Optasia Medical today announced the appointment of Anthony Holmes, Ph.D. as Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Holmes replaces Dr. Peter Steiger, who served as the Company’s CEO since its creation in 2006 and will continue to serve as Optasia Medical’s non-executive Chairman of the Board.
“I am excited to take on this new responsibility,” said Dr. Holmes. “I have been involved in the development of Optasia’s core technology even prior to the Company’s founding and turning products built on this platform into new standards of care continues to be my passion. The past year has demonstrated increased acceptance of SpineAnalyzer as a tool for documenting vertebral fractures in osteoporosis. New guidelines acknowledging the importance of vertebral fractures to manage the disease are emerging around the world and Optasia Medical is well positioned to fill an unmet medical need.”
Dr. Steiger added, “In Anthony, Optasia Medical has found a highly experienced executive who understands both the technology and the clinical needs of the market place. I look forward to working with Anthony in my new role as Chairman to make Optasia Medical a success.”
