P&G Pharmaceuticals has installed the MorphoXpress software in 230 centers in Italy and early results have shown that non-specialist doctors using the tool can monitor the incidence and progression of Osteoporosis with similar precision to specialist radiologists.
"We found that this program really helps physicians improve the management of their osteoporosis patients."

Case Study
Case Study: Procter & Gamble PharmaceuticalsOptasia Medical has an ongoing collaboration with Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, a leader in osteoporosis management, to improve the workflow associated with the analysis of x-ray images. The first challenge was the automation of vertebral shape annotation for the monitoring of osteoporosis. Current manual analysis takes up to 15 minutes per image. Optasia Medical's solution enables this task to be performed in 7 to 8 minutes, realizing a significant workflow saving. The solution utilizes Optasia® in the P&G Pharmaceuticals software application MorphoXpress, a Class I Medical Device that has been rolled out in Europe in four languages. MorphoXpress improves the clinical workflow for the manual placement of points on specified vertebrae on lateral spine x-rays and provides a suggestion of the severity of vertebral deformity. The application processes digitized plain film x-ray images and scanned digital radiograph (DR) images. Patient information is associated with the analyzed images and stored in a local database. All image annotations are reviewed, adjusted if necessary and accepted by a clinical user before being committed to the database. Several images may be associated with a single patient and the analysis of each may be compared for longitudinal monitoring of a patient's condition. A facility is available to generate reports including annotated images for database storage, printing and email communication.Learn how Optasia Medical can make a difference in your work. |
