Optasia Medical and Osteoporosis

In a new report, the U.S. Surgeon General warned that by 2020, half of all American citizens older than 50 will be at risk for fractures from osteoporosis and low bone mass if no immediate action is taken. Ten million Americans over the age of 50 already have osteoporosis, while another 34 million are at risk for developing it. And each year, roughly 1.5 million people suffer a bone fracture related to osteoporosis.

Clearly, there is an urgent need to address this growing issue. SpineAnalyzerTM from Optasia Medical provides an important tool to help do so.

The guidelines of the National Osteoporosis Foundation place previous vertebral fracture at the top of the list of important risk factors for evaluation of osteoporosis. Optasia Medical’s SpineAnalyzer facilitates analysis of vertebral deformity in lateral spine x-rays and VFA scans to help radiologists and other healthcare professionals with their assessment.
